Women Above the Ashes – Part Two

A second volume of the book “Women Above the Ashes” by Yemeni researcher Nabila Saeed has been published by the Mokha Center for Strategic Studies. The book presents a documentary narrative that highlights the realities of Yemeni women during years of war and the profound social changes experienced across the country.
Rather than a research study, the book brings together documentary stories based on interviews with women from different Yemeni governorates. Through personal accounts, it reflects the psychological, economic, and social impact of conflict while highlighting women’s resilience and their efforts to rebuild their lives despite displacement, loss, and hardship.
The book was launched during an online seminar attended by researchers, writers, activists, members of the Yemeni community, and international experts working on women and peace initiatives from different countries. Several Yemeni women whose stories appear in the book also participated, sharing their experiences and reflections on the challenges they faced during the years of conflict.
This publication is part of the Mokha Center’s broader efforts to highlight the social and humanitarian role of Yemeni women and document their contributions to sustaining families and communities throughout the war.
