The Security Council continues to express its support for UN-led efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the three agreed-upon references: the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216 (2015) — all of which explicitly affirm support for Yemen’s unity.

This rejection of the STC’s separatist agenda was reiterated in April 2020, when the Council declared “self-administration” in southern Yemen.
