Istanbul recently hosted the launch of the first forum for the “Strategic Qualification of Youth Leadership” project , organized by the Union of Yemeni Students in Turkey – Istanbul Branch , in partnership with the Mokha Center for Strategic Studies and several other institutions. The event brought together over 70 students from 23 cities across Turkey.
This forum marks the beginning of an eight-month training program that blends theoretical learning with practical experience. It aims to develop a core group of young leaders equipped with a national vision and institutional mindset, ready to make a meaningful impact both locally and internationally.
During the forum, participants engaged in a variety of workshops and training sessions covering strategic thinking, planning, leadership, diplomacy, media, and institutional work. The program also included field visits to official institutions and civil society organizations, hands-on activities, and a closing event where trainees presented their outcomes and reflected on their progress.
The forum was attended by prominent Yemeni figures, including former ministers, deputy ministers, diplomats, and academics. They delivered speeches and presented papers focusing on the current state of youth leadership, the future of Yemen’s reconstruction, and ways to strengthen the role of young people in national affairs.

Dr. Mohammed Qayzan, Deputy Minister of Information, spoke about the differences between government and union work and highlighted the vital role youth play in both sectors. Meanwhile, Anwar Al-Khodari, Head of the Strategic Studies Unit at Al-Mokha Center, emphasized the importance of youth involvement in shaping the country’s political future.

The project aims to prepare 70 young Yemeni leaders living in Turkey, helping them take on stronger roles within student and civil society organizations, and fostering institutional partnerships that advance the interests of the Yemeni community abroad.
