Strengthening Local Capacities in Marib: Workshop Discusses Humanitarian Response and Recovery Strategies

The Mokha Center for Strategic Studies, in collaboration with the Executive Unit for IDPS Camps (EX.U.IDPs) organized a workshop titled “Humanitarian Projects between Emergencies and Recovery: Sustainable Strategies to Support Response in Marib.”
The workshop aimed to enhance coordination among stakeholders involved in the humanitarian response and to develop strategic plans that support recovery efforts in the governorate.
During the event, participants reviewed successful experiences of collaboration between local authorities and humanitarian organizations during emergencies. They highlighted the importance of using technology to improve communication and suggested establishing a joint operations center for managing crises and disasters.
The workshop also explored innovative methods for presenting humanitarian needs to donors and international organizations, aiming to attract additional support and enhance the financial resources available to address humanitarian challenges.
The discussions focused on opportunities to localize humanitarian efforts in Yemen, particularly in Marib, by building the capacities of government ministries and civil society organizations to ensure the sustainability of the efforts and reduce reliance on external support.
Participants also emphasized strategies for achieving sustainability in recovery and reconstruction projects by securing long-term funding and implementing sustainable initiatives.
The workshop concluded with a set of practical recommendations, including enhancing cooperation between local authorities and humanitarian organizations through innovative technologies and joint frameworks, developing effective strategies for presenting humanitarian needs, and localizing humanitarian efforts by building local capacities.
The recommendations underscored the need to explore new funding opportunities and to develop a practical framework for implementing and promoting the strategic plan for recovery and reconstruction in Marib.
The organizers of the workshop stressed the importance of following up on these recommendations to achieve the desired goals and to strengthen the humanitarian response in Marib in a sustainable way, thereby improving the lives of residents and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts in the governorate.
