The Mokha Center for Strategic Studies participated in an international conference hosted by Mardin Artuklu University in Turkiye on April 17–18. The event was organized in collaboration with several institutions and drew broad participation from both local and international organizations.
The center was represented by Raed Batis, the Executive Director; Dr. Ismail Al-Suhaili, a member of the Scientific Committee; Mr. Anwar Al-Khudhari, Head of the Strategic Studies Unit; and Dr. Mehmet Rakipoglu, an advisor on Turkish affairs.
The center presented research papers during one of the sessions held on the second day of the conference. The session was attended by a diverse audience of Turkish, Yemeni, and Arab professors and students. Topics addressed included the Yemeni crisis, recent developments concerning the Palestinian situation, and Yemen’s historical engagement with the Palestinian cause.
The papers shed light on the political, military, and humanitarian dimensions of the conflict in Yemen, providing a detailed overview of its evolving dynamics. The discussions underscored the importance of strengthening Yemen’s voice, highlighting the humanitarian crisis, and mobilizing greater international support for efforts toward peace and stability.

In addition to their participation in the conference, the team held several high-level meetings—including with the university president, the president of the AYBİR Association, and other relevant stakeholders. These discussions focused on enhancing Yemeni participation in future programs and exploring opportunities to host Turkish experts and academics in dialogue sessions with Yemeni researchers. Plans were also proposed to organize a dedicated conference and cultural events focused on Yemen in the city of Mardin.
The team also met with Yemeni students residing in Mardin to explore ways to support their skill development and professional growth. Conversations included strategies for engaging these students in the center’s initiatives and formally involving them in its activities—part of the center’s broader vision to empower youth and expand its academic presence through the contributions of skilled Yemeni expatriates.
Key recommendations included launching joint initiatives to raise awareness about the Yemeni issue and strengthening academic cooperation between Yemen and Turkey, amid growing support for scientific, research, and cultural collaboration.
