The Mokha Center for Strategic Studies and Gelişim University invite researchers and academics to contribute their studies and research to the IX. International Middle East Symposium, Titled: New Geopolitical Transformations and Sovereignty Issues in The Middle East. This event is organized by the Center and the University, in collaboration with İGÜSAM TUBITAK, Knowledge Forum Academy, ODAP, and Diplomasi Vakfı.
Symposium Scope:

  • Terrorism, Civil War
  • Ethno-nationalism, Migration and Integration, History and Politics
  • Proxy Wars, Sectarian Conflicts, Military Coups /
  • Globalization and Neo-colonialism, Democratization
  • Human Rights, Freedom of Press, Media and Politics
  • Finance, Economic Development and Welfare
  • Social Inequality and Justice, Society, Culture, and Discourse

Guidelines for Abstract Submission:

  • Word count: 500-750 words
  • Abstracts may be written in Turkish or Arabic, with an accompanying English translation.
  • Include 5 main keywords at the end of the abstract.
  • Attach a brief biography (300 words) with your submission.
  • Make sure to include your full name, email address, mobile number, fax number, and institutional contact details.
  • The abstract must be submitted by September 24, 2024.

Research Submission Guidelines:

  1. The research paper must be prepared in a Microsoft Word document on A4-sized paper, with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
  2. Line spacing should be set to 1.15 throughout the paper.
  3. The text should be in Times New Roman, font size 12. Leave a space between paragraphs, and indent the first line of each paragraph by 1 cm.
  4. References should follow APA style (American Psychological Association) and be included in-text within brackets rather than as footnotes.
  5. The title of the research should be centered, in bold, and written in all capital letters, size 12.
  6. The author’s (or authors’) names should be written in lowercase, with their title in uppercase, all in bold, size 12.
  7. Author details—name, title, institution, department, and email address—should be included in a footnote with an asterisk (*) after the title, using font size 10 and italic formatting.
  8. The research should include the following sections: the purpose of the study, theoretical framework, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion and recommendations, along with 5 keywords.
  9. The reference list should appear at the end of the paper, arranged alphabetically by the authors’ last names. Use font size 11, with a single line space between each reference.
  10. The research paper should be between 1000 and 2000 words in length.
  11. If your abstract is accepted for presentation at the symposium, the final version of your research paper must be submitted by October 7, 2024
