Introduction
The Republic of Turkey supported the military operations of the Arab Coalition in Yemen, where The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, announced that, at the time that the intervention came, it was as a result of the Houthi group’s violation of international agreements and resolutions, their explicit violation of UN Security Council resolutions and their repeated rejection of the political dialogue process. Time went by after the military intervention, and, as a result of several variables, Turkey’s position shifted from supporting the military operation to caring only for the humanitarian issue and gradually criticizing the mistakes made by the coalition forces.
In contrast to the years of tension in the Turkish-Saudi relationship, the last few months witnessed a positive development in the relationship between the two countries following the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the upcoming visit of the Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad bin Salman on June 2022. In the same direction, the Yemeni file witnessed a fundamental development through the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council and delegating the power of former president Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi to it, which requires studying the impact of these two variables on Turkey’s position on the conflict in Yemen.
